The Bow Valley SPCA raised $1300 in (garage) sales and estimate about $100 worth of recyclable bottles/cans were dropped off at the Carla Cumming Sojonky Adoption Center.  More than 100 people showed up to look for bargins.  Most of the available items were lightly used and many were new.  The items ranged from stuffed toys to pet crates, and pet food dishes to scratching poles, not to mention comfy pet beds.

Diane Venner, the volunteer that orgainzed the event pointed out, Our success is simply a reflection of the generosity of this community.  Most of the items were donated to us by local residents and businesses. We just asked people to pay what they thought the item was worth and reminded them that all of the proceeds went towards the care of our dogs and cats.  Instead of negotiating prices, like a normal garage sale, people opened their hearts and gave a bit extra.

Brandi Hine, who helped organize the bottle drop off said, I am amazed at the number of people that brought their recyclables to us.  We will be sorting them over the few days and then dropping them at the bottle return depot.  I am so happy about the support we received.  Imagine, getting to go to a garage sale AND creating some space by getting rid of bottles and cans.
