New Dog Runs--Volunteers Make A Difference
Burnco brought two big trucks of concrete to the Carla Cumming Sojonky Adoption Centre--but that was the easy part! Because the new dog runs are behind the Adoption Centre, the trucks could not deliver the concrete directly to the location for the runs.
Enter 15 volunteers who worked for more than 4 hours to move the concrete from the trucks to the pad which will be the floor for the dog runs. But, hold on, they were not just BVSPCA volunteers. Professional construction, aka--skilled workers, also gave their know how, time, and energy.
It is expensive to build runs and the BVSPCA was able to obtain grants from the Donner Canadian Foundation and the Maja Foundation to cover the costs of the construction, but more than 90% of the costs they cover are for materials. That means the project can only be completed with volunteer help. AND, we got that on November 17, 2018.
The reward for all of the hard work. Pizza and a chance to chat.
We are so very thankful for the support of the community. We know the staff and the BVSPCA volunteers change the lives of the dogs and cats we rescue. Days like November 17, show us how the involvement of the broader community changes our lives for the better.
