Canmore Collegiate High School Leadership had a tour on Thursday Nov 19, 2015 to learn about the No Cage/No Kill Facility and meet the Bow Valley SPCA's resident cats and dogs.   During the tour the students learned some of the resident animals stories.

On Thursday Nov 26, 2015 Bow Valley SPCA volunteers visited the Leadership Class and brought two important, Canine guests, Maggie, and Creed.   Creed the Bow Valley SPCA first successful adoption in 2007, adopted by Pam Doyle.   Maggie was introduced by her owner Joseph Potts owner, and presented a story titled: A Tail of Two Maggies

The  presentation focused on educating students on the importance of Spay and Neuter. Students learned that in the last ten years in United States through education and awareness, euthanasia's of innocent animals has been reduced from 17 million dogs and cats a year to 4 million.  In Canada the numbers are 146,000 in 1990 and 46,000 in 2013.  Learning that the staggering numbers could still be reduced by Spay and Neutering, by not bringing unwanted animals into the world.
Pet Responsibility was also discussed with students, Don't Waste Puppy and Kitten Hood a topic that educates on the importance of training a puppy and kitten early in it's life, preventing behavior issues that could possibly lead to animals being brought to a shelter.

The Leadership class will present a project to BVSPCA to use to educate others on the importance of Spay and Neuter.
