Clicker Training - Loose Leash Walking--Part 2

It was cold and snowy when more than a half dozen volunteers showed up for the second part of the clicker training class. The challenge was to work with dogs currently living at the Centre and to begin the process of teaching them loose leash walking. By the end of about 40 minutes all of the dogs had the idea and could take up to 5 steps beside their handler--really beside, not forging ahead.
Of course this is only a start for the dogs since most walks are a bit longer than 5 steps. But, the volunteers are all committed to continuing the work and being able to go for long, comfortable, relaxed walks with each of these dogs. The Bow Valley SPCA thanks Coleen Herring for taking the time to teach and her generous support for the Bow Valley SPCA.
