Andine and BVSPCA Volunteers Attend Seniors' Tea Party

Andine gains confidence

On Saturday June 9, 2018 the Bow Valley SPCA was invited to a tea at Bow River Seniors Lodge. Andine (Mostly now called Andy) a 1 yr old male, Australian Kelpie -Thai mix breed, took the spot light. Educators chatted with seniors, sharing our vision for the community.

Kate Barker and Joseph Potts Open Paw Trainers demonstrated and narrated the Force Free and positive reinforcement techniques used during training. Andy, trusting Kate his handler, was an example how kindness, patience and love gave this little dog the confidence to navigate through an agility course in front of many watchers. The seniors asked questions and learned Andy's journey coming to the BVSPCA via Thailand saved from the illegal meat market.

Bow Valley SPCA will provide a tour of Carla Cumming Sojonky Adoption Centre to the seniors and a presentation at the Lodge in the near future. Volunteers in attendance enjoyed talking with the seniors and appreciate the respect and interest the seniors have for their dedication for resident animals.
