Planned Giving
Become part of the future of the Bow Valley SPCA! Planned gifts create a legacy that will sustain the BVSPCA for years to come.
Why Give?
We depend on financial gifts to continue to Make a Difference and Change the Lives of abandoned dogs and cats. Your contribution makes you part of our effort to provide excellent care to all our rescued dogs and cats for years to come. Because we are a no-kill shelter, we receive many animals with complex behaviour or medical issues, who might be euthanized elsewhere. For optimal performance, we need funds to respond to escalating demands, without compromising individual care to the animals we save.
Ways to Give
-
Endowment Fund
Our vision is to create a legacy, and sustainable stream of revenue to cover the costs of operating the Bow Valley SPCA at the Carla Cumming Sojonky Adoption Centre. Our goal over the next 10 years is to raise $1 million which will provide us with $50,000 of sustainable operating revenue annually.
Established in late 2020, the Bow Valley SPCA Fund is a permanent endowment fund designed to provide a secure source of operating income in perpetuity. Investments in our Bow Valley SPCA Fund are held securely by The Calgary Foundation. When you invest in our endowment fund, your money is in excellent hands. The Calgary Foundation’s objectives are to invest your money so that it earns an average 5% rate of return over the long-term and to preserve and extend forever the amount of your initial legacy gift.

Partnerships
Corporate financial gifts have accounted for us being able to cover approximately one-third of our annual expenses every year and keep our doors open. We believe partnerships should be custom tailored to the needs of the business, and therefore have developed several alternatives to satisfy those needs. The alternatives include (but are not limited to):
- Event sponsorship
- Developing custom products
- Sales-based or monthly gifts
- Promotional opportunities
- Improvements and equipment funding
We understand that corporate successes are important. Please therefore consider contributing or partnering with us to create big wins for us all.

Shares
If you are considering a donation to the Bow Valley SPCA and you own publicly listed securities (stocks, bonds, mutual fund units, or shares) that have appreciated in value, you may consider donating these directly to BVSPCA, rather than cashing them in to donate, in which case you do not include the capital gain in your income.
