About Bedard

Hey there, the name's Bedard, nice to meet ya! I've been at the Bow Valley SPCA for quite some time, and you know...I'm really not sure why. If you've been following along my journey, you've likely read that I am leash reactive but I've been doing some serious work with some of my besties and if you check out my Instagram reel you will see that with proper introductions I can be a chill guy. I just need you to help me along the way but I've been making progress in leaps and bounds lately! I'm an adventurous guy searching for a home that is looking for a dog with enthusiasm and the cutest head-tilt you've ever seen!

I will need to be the only furry friend in your life at this time, and dog parks won't be for me. I am looking for fur-parents that will understand my at times uncertain tendencies, and will continue helping me to feel safe around other dogs.

I love going for walks or hikes (I'm a great trail dog!) and playing fetch. Seriously, playing fetch may just be the best time in the whole wide world! After a nice stroll or jog to burn off some of my energy, I'm happy to hang outside in the backyard or settle in for an afternoon snooze. Being a shepherd/husky mix, I am very clever and eager to please, and I come with an impressive repertoire of commands and skills. I'd love to keep learning new skills or tricks to keep my brain busy! I've also mastered placement training, taking treats gently, impulse control, and I'm an agility superstar (not to brag). Cats will be a definite no go - they're waaay too fun to pounce and bark at! I've heard there are lots of outdoorsy people out here, so I'll fit right in and would love to try out some Rocky Mountain adventuring!

I've spent some time in a foster home, and they say I'm a gem in the home (they travel too much to keep me but the love me dearly!!). Although I have a tendency to be excited in the shelter environment, I'm really a chill guy in the house because being in a home environment where I feel safe and comfortable, a whole other side of me emerges that is calm, polite, and respectful. I have great house manners, and would love nothing more than a home of my very own where I can show off my best self.

I'm a joyful, handsome, and loving dog who can't wait to find a home at long last! Maybe I could come home with you?
