Kid's Camp July, 2015 (Know Your Species)

"Know Your Species"

The kids arrived at the Carla Cumming Sojonky Adoption Centre full of enthusiasm and most of all love and compassion for the resident animals.   Touring the Dog Cabins and Cat Chalets they showed the animals respect in their Bow Valley SPCA home, the animals home, while waiting for their forever home. The kids  also displayed  empathy and compassion learning the story of each animal and the importance of treating each animal as an individual with their own needs and  personality.

The day continued with crafts and meeting other species making a guest appearance, as BVSPCA only homes domestic dogs and cats.    A  visit with Koko and Kola two miniature horses;  a tracking demonstration with Jake, an adopted dog from BVSPCA who has overcome challenges thanks to the patience and time spent by his new owners;  Rufus an  Albino Guinea Pig, who loved the hands on attention attention; and Taco, a pet Corn Snake, winning everyone over with her personality teaching  all in attendance a new perception on snakes.

The kids learned:
Knowing  your species is important to be a kind,  responsible pet owner,  giving your pet and family the best possible chance of a long happy, healthy life of companionship.
